Windows 10 audio output to 2 or more devices

One kind of hidden feature in Windows 10 is the possibility to play audio on multiple devices at the same time. For example to play music on your speakers and on your bluetooth headphone.

To do so, you need to enable Stereo Mix. Follow these steps to enable:

  1. Click Start, type Sound in the search bar and select Change System Sounds
  2. Go to tab Playback and choose Speakers as the default playback device
  3. Go to tab Recording  tab, right-click anywhere and choose to enable Show Disabled Devices (it may already be enabled)
  4. A new device called Stereo Mix appears. (may also be Mono Mix or Wave Out mix)
  5. Right click on the new device and click Enable. Right click again and choose Set as Default Device
  6. Double click on the new device to open the Properties window
  7. Go to tab Listen
  8. Select the Listen to this device checkbox
  9. Select your secondary audio device from the Playback through this device list
